I am proud to be standing to be your next Labour MP for Redditch and the Villages.
In my family there is no greater honour than public service. My grandfather was a policeman serving his community and my mother dedicated her work in life to the NHS.
I have followed their example and I'm committed to delivering for working people.
I am a business leader and have served as a County Councillor so I understand what it takes to get things done.
I have always stood up for this community and local people and after 14 years of Conservative chaos, it's time for change.
Labour has a plan to deliver the change our communities need.
Thank you David Faulkner for giving me the chance to pick my own favourite design for the next Redditch United FC shirt! I’m looking forward to the official results of the public vote soon!
I recently met with Dean Corrigan the Managing Director of Heaphys in Redditch town centre. Dean was very kind with his time and we had a long conversation about the current challenges of running his businesses, his hopes for expansion and growth. Labour has already announced plans to replace business rates, but I wanted to hear Dean's ideas on how we can help businesses like his grow and hire more people. I also got to see firsthand the care and attention that Dean and his team show to each customer.
Our high streets are the beating hearts of our local economies. I'm determined to work with local business owners so that we can revolutionise the way we support and incentivise business growth.
Thank you to Dean and his team for his time and for being an integral part of our high street offering in Redditch.
In Redditch and across the Country local communities have lost control over their bus routes. Fares have increased, routes have disappeared, and services are unreliable.
Labour will reform the broken system through new powers for local leaders to franchise local bus services, and we will lift the ban on municipal ownership giving local communities in England control over routes and schedules.
They will also give powers to create unified and integrated transport systems, allowing for more seamless journeys, and to promote active travel networks.
This very much fits in with our Manifesto pledge for the Council elections we had in May and the organising of Community Forums where we can gather your thoughts and take on board concerns
We are hoping to get our amazing candidate Chris Bloore for Redditch and the Villages as our MP for Redditch.
Chris is the only Candidate in Redditch that can beat Rachel Maclean and give us the real changes we need here and across Britain..
If you want change - you need to vote for it
Labour will work with local authorities to give first-time buyers the first chance to buy homes and end the farce of entire developments being sold off to international investors before houses are even built. And we will introduce a permanent, comprehensive mortgage guarantee scheme, to support first-time buyers who struggle to save for a large deposit, with lower mortgage costs.
Labour will also deliver the biggest increase in social and affordable housebuilding in a generation.
We will strengthen planning obligations to ensure new developments provide more affordable homes; make changes to the Affordable Homes Programme to ensure that it delivers more homes from existing funding; and support councils and housing associations to build their capacity and make a greater contribution to affordable housing supply.
Labour will prioritise the building of new social rented homes and better protect our existing stock by reviewing the increased right to buy discounts introduced in 2012 and increasing protections on newly-built social housing of homes affected by nutrient neutrality without weakening environmental protections.
